After a 2-hour grace period, we send an SMS and email with a one-tap check-in link. No app needed to respond.
After 6 hours, we place an automated call. Press any key to confirm you're okay. Simple as that.
After 12 hours, we reach out to your trusted contacts to check on you. They can confirm your safety on your behalf.

Nothing happens right away. Our 5-stage safety cascade gives you multiple chances to confirm you're okay, through push notifications, SMS, email, phone calls, and your trusted contacts. Messages are only delivered after every stage is exhausted. You can also set a vacation/pause mode for planned absences.
No. LastFlare uses zero-knowledge encryption. Your messages are encrypted on your device using AES-256-GCM before they ever reach our servers. We store only encrypted data. We cannot decrypt your messages, even if legally compelled to do so.
This is one of our top design priorities. We're building data export tools so you always own your data. We're also exploring open-sourcing our delivery engine and message escrow partnerships to ensure pending deliveries complete regardless of what happens to our company.
